Player Equipment
- Uniform: jersey, black shorts and team socks are provided by the league.
- Size 5 ball – Players bring their own ball to practices.
- Goalie gloves recommended for players who like to play GK.
- Soccer shoes/cleats or athletic shoes are recommended. Cleats must be for soccer and not another sport.
- Shin guards are required and must be covered completely under socks at both practices and games.
- No jewelry may be worn for practices or games (this includes earrings and “starter” earrings).
- No equipment should be shared among players.
Game Play
- 11 players per team on the field (11v11) including goalkeepers.
- Teams are co-ed with a balanced mix of boys and girls on each team.
- U19 teams play games against each other but also against other co-ed high school teams from other AYSO regions so some travel is involved on certain Saturdays.
Game Duration and Substitutions
- The time listed on the Game Schedule is the start-time of the game kick-off.
- Two 35-minute halves with a short “half-time” at stoppage between halves. This may be extended longer when playing versus certain teams.
- Coaches and referees should use their discretion to modify games into 4 quarters on especially hot days and/or if teams are short players and without subs.
- Everyone Plays® means that every player plays at least half of every game. Substitutions should be made with the purpose of striving to get players equal playing time.
- To further ensure Everyone Plays, coaches and referees may also consider splitting the game into 4 Quarters for substitutions if both teams agree to it.
- If a team makes a substitution on their own throw-in or corner kick, the opposing team may also make substitutions at that time.
Fouls and Misconduct
- Every effort should be made to keep the game moving and limit stoppages, distractions, and interruptions such as debate or disagreement about rules, calls, goals scored or not scored, etc. Please let the kids play and enjoy the game of soccer!
