Coach and Referee Development
Ensuring that our volunteer coaches and referees are trained and credible is key to ensuring a safe, fun, fair, and positive soccer experience for our kids.
Please review instructions below on how to access and complete AYSO’s FREE online and in-person training sessions so that you can be comfortable, confident, and competent in your volunteer role.
Online Training
Follow these steps to complete online training modules:
Be added as a Volunteer User in your Family Profile
Before you can access online training, you must first be added as a *volunteer* in your Family Profile and have the correct Volunteer Preferences checked-off.
If you’re not already listed as a Volunteer in your Family Profile, have your spouse or parent login to the Family Profile and select “Add New User” to add you to the Family Profile as a Volunteer.
Then select “Volunteer Now” to update your Volunteer Preferences as a Coach or Referee Volunteer.
Visit the eTrainU Page
- Login to the eTrainU page and scroll towards the bottom of the page.
- Select the green SafeSport button/link.
- As a member organization of the U.S. Soccer Federation, AYSO requires that all adult coach and referee volunteers complete the online SafeSport module.
Return to eTrainU and login to "AYSO-U"
On the left vertical bar, select "Training Library"
Select the “Training Library” on the left bar. Under Course Categories select the corresponding “View Courses” button for the corresponding category listed below to complete all required online courses:
Safe Haven Category – For Coaches and Referees:
- AYSO’s Safe Haven (Select Enroll and Complete)
- CDC Concussion Awareness (Select Enroll and Complete)
Coaches Category:
- Summary of the Laws of the Game (Select Enroll and Complete)
- 6U Coach IF you’re coaching U5 or U6 (Select Enroll and Complete)
- 8U Coach if you’re coaching U7 or U8 (Select Enroll and Complete)
- 10U Coach Online + In-Person if you’re coaching U9 or U10 (Select Enroll and Complete)
- 12U Coach if you’re coaching U12 (Select Enroll and Complete)
- 14U Intermediate Coach if you’re coaching U14 (Select Enroll and Complete)
Referees Category:
- Summary of the Laws of the Game (Select Enroll and Complete)
- 8U Official – Full Online Course – For referees in U5-U8 Divisions (Select Enroll and Complete)
- Regional Referee Online + In-Person Companion Course – For Youth Referees and U9+ Referees (Select Enroll and Complete)
In-Person Training
In-Person coach and referee training helps prepare our volunteers so that they are competent and confident heading into the season.

To sign-up for these sessions and sessions hosted by other AYSO regions, login at ayso300team.org/app/eTrainU and select “Training Event” in the left side-bar to find the training session you need.
Search by “Region 300” to find sessions hosted in our Region.

If you’re looking for coach or referee training and cannot attend the dates/times listed below or don’t see a training option that fits your needs, please email us at volunteer@ayso300.org, and we’ll try to work with you to provide training options you can attend.
